Anyone have any experince with 5.11 Tactial pants and shirts? I've read the ads and they indicate the clothing is made with cotton canvas. That sounds uncomfortable, but I can't believe it could be so. To what is it comparable? Cotton denim, Dickies work clothes, etc.? Any input would be appreciated.

Even though I have not bought a pair (seriously considering it though), I would think that they would be on par or more comfy that Carharts which are canvas "duck" material.

If you buy them before me, let me know! I'll do the same if I beat you to it Wink

They look nice, but I don't know about them. I'm a back packer and I get all my clothes via that route. They are strong, do what you need them to do and usually have plenty of pockets or whatever.

http://www.killerdeals.com is the best place to buy last years models   at a discount. Same thing lower price.

I have had 5.11 clothing.  It is pretty close to carhart in my experience.  Stiff when new, but washes and wears out to comfortable over time.  To their credit, I wore it for work clothes in construction and it held up better than I expected.  It isn't on par with a good pair of Wrangler jeans for wear, but is every bit as good as Dickie's.

I finally got a chance to examine some 5.11 clothing. Though the fabric looked good, i didn't like the sewing work. Looked sloppy to me. I went with Propper brand lightweight tactical pants and tactical shirt.

Propper is what I wear just because of the price.  5.11 gear is beyond my means at this time.

If one shops carefully, it is amazing what can be found at the second hand stores. On several occasions I have found almost new pairs of Carhart's or other good quality work clothes for literally pennies on the dollar. Not too long ago I picked up a $150 pair of Red Wing boots that were almost new for a whole $12.00  Tongue

When it comes to some of the new 5.11 gear that's out there.. The concealed carry shirt is one that is high on my list. A friend has one of these, it is almost impossible to tell that he is carrying a pistol and two extra mags.

These guys are selling it $10.00 cheaper than 5.11.. http://www.popguns.com/511tactical/holstershirt.htm

Don't kid a kidder.  You just want that shirt for the sculpting so you can look like the Governator in the Conan years. Wink

I wish Propper made an insulated version of its clothes.  What I have in mind is something like the quilted Jak-shirts.
